Reddit Lead ROI Calculator

Work out what replying to community threads is worth, and what finding them manually is costing you. Updates as you type.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, stored, or logged — there is no request to send it in. No sign-up required.

Where the default numbers come from

They are illustrative starting points, not benchmarks, and you should replace every one of them with your own data before drawing conclusions.

The two that vary most between businesses are thread volume and annual contract value. A niche developer tool might see five genuinely relevant threads a week across Reddit and X; a broad business category might see two hundred. Contract value swings the output more than any conversion rate in the model, which is why a high-ACV product can justify the channel on a handful of customers a year.

How to read the output

The number most people fixate on is annual revenue. The more useful one is search cost per customer — what you pay in your own time to find each closed deal.

That figure is what makes the channel comparable to paid acquisition. If finding a customer through community replies costs more in hours than it would through ads, the channel is not automatically wrong, but you need a reason beyond economics to keep doing it manually.

The other thing worth noticing: reply rate and search hours move together in reality. Most teams cannot sustain replying to forty percent of relevant threads while also finding them by hand, which is where the model usually diverges from practice.

What the model deliberately ignores

Compounding search value. A good reply in a thread that later ranks keeps generating visits for years. The model treats every reply as a one-time event, which understates the channel considerably.

Brand effects. People who read your reply, do not click, and remember the name three months later are invisible here and are a large part of why the channel works.

Reply quality variance. The model assumes every reply performs identically. In reality a small number of genuinely excellent replies produce most of the outcome.

Ramp time. New accounts in unfamiliar communities perform worse for the first several weeks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about the calculator

What is a realistic reply-to-visit rate?

It varies enormously with reply quality and whether you include a link at all. Replies that answer the question thoroughly and mention a product in passing tend to outperform replies built around a link, both in clicks and in surviving moderation.

Should I count comments as well as posts?

Yes. On most platforms comment volume exceeds post volume substantially, and buying questions asked inside a comment thread are frequently less contested than top-level posts.

How do I estimate relevant threads per week?

Search your three main category terms on Reddit sorted by new, count genuinely relevant results over a seven-day window, then add roughly the same again for comments, which search surfaces poorly.

Is the output stored anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and none of the values are transmitted.

CUT THE SEARCH COST

The expensive line in this model is finding the threads.

MentionSpot removes it. Keywords go in, a scored queue of real buying conversations comes out, across both Reddit and X.
